Writer's block is like that really bad curse word for writers. You want to scream when all you seem to be doing is eyeballing that piece of white paper or that blank word document on the screen. Words are not just going to magically appear. You have to make them happens, but you just don't want to write gibberish. You want to be able to dig down deep inside your soul and create characters that will capture people's hearts. Well, at least I want to create characters like that. (lol) You can't see me, but I'm laughing out loud.
One of the things I do to combat that evil and insidious writers block, is write down a name. Then I start to think about the person behind the name. What are they like? What kind of morales they have? Do they have morales? What do they do in their daily life? What kind of friends and family they have? What drives them? I also picture where they live and what is happening in their current moment. That tends to help me write a story along the way. At first I start to think that what I'm writing sounds silly or is garbage. I stop and then I continue writing more. While I'm in the shower, I know TMI, I start playing a movie in my head with that character. THe movie I'm playing in my head is good. So when I get out the shower, the first thing I do, besides moisturizing and putting on deodorant, is take a pen and paper. I start writing and before i know it, I have a juicy story. Well, at least that's what I do to give this writer's block the one, two punch. What do you do to fight writer's block?
